Incidence rate continues to increase

This is one of the most telling indicators of the epidemic. The incidence rate, that is to say the number of daily cases per 100,000 inhabitants, has now reached 588 in the Alpes-Maritimes, and even exceeds 735 in the Nice metropolis. This is the maximum, by far, recorded at the moment in mainland France, and it is also more than three times the national average (which stands at 190).

A figure to which must be added the deaths recorded in the nursing homes of the Côte d'Azur: 392 since the start of the pandemic.

Hospital services overheating

According to the latest figures from the regional health agency (ARS), published on Monday evening, conventional hospital units received 43 additional patients over the weekend (377 in total). With 106 people in intensive care, the initial capacity of these services is greatly exceeded (121.8%) and 90.6% of the beds (including those specially freed) are occupied. In addition to three patient transfers organized in recent days in other departments of Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, new movements of patients from the French Riviera outside the region are being studied.

Reputed to be up to 70% more contagious, this variant is now believed to be responsible for more than 50% of contamination in the Alpes-Maritimes.
