Fans were very much in shock after learning that Boseman had passed away. In the months prior, the actor didn’t give any indication that he was dealing with an illness as he worked on movie after movie (aside from his Marvel projects, Boseman also starred in 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) just before much of the world went into lockdown due to COVID-19.

For Marvel, the death of their beloved star came as a shock. “The death of Chad hit all of us extremely hard and at the same time as it hit the world 'cause we didn't know either,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said.

“And there were all sorts of questions and our first thought, for many weeks afterwards, had nothing to do with the movie. It had to do with him and his family and his wife and his legacy.”

And as the studio started to think about the Black Panther sequel that they had already previously announced, Feige looked to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler for direction.

“Having the discussions, which is essentially, came down to continuing the legacy of Wakanda and continuing with that storyline in a very meaningful, respectful and yet, still hopeful and fun and exciting way, which was difficult after losing Chad,” Feige explained.

In the end, he believes that Coogler and the rest of the Black Panther team came up with something that truly celebrates Boseman’s Marvel legacy.

“And I will say that Ryan and our producer Nate Moore, the entire cast, and our co-writer Joe Robert Cole, have done some remarkable things in the story, in the draft,” Feige continued. “And it will be extremely emotional across the board, but I think they have something very special in mind.”

Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o, who stars as Nakia, also believes that Boseman was with them in spirit when they made the movie. “For us as a cast, having lost our king, Chadwick Boseman, that was a lot to process, and in many ways, we’re still processing it,” the actress explained.

“When you lose someone, I don’t know when you stop missing them. And of course, we felt it so much, making this film without him.”

At the same time, Nyong’o said that the new film “expanded the world of Wakanda in ways that will blow people’s minds — not just Wakanda, but the Black Panther world.” The trailer has already revealed the introduction of Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and the much-awaited debut of Dominic Thorne as Riri Williams, a.k.a. "Black Panther": Teaser for Sequel honors Chadwick Boseman - and shows a new Black Panther

Fans had to wait for an continuation of "Black Panther" . Nobody complained. Because the surprising cancer death by leading actor Chadwick Boseman in August 2020 is still reverberating. Boseman became the galancy figure of an Film , which in spring 2018-just before the climax of the “Black Lives Matter” protests-was the turning point not only to Marvel, but to all of Hollywood. Is Shuri The New Black Panther?

There are some upcoming LEGO sets that seem to indicate that Shuri is the new Black Panther being teased in the Wakanda Forever trailer. For instance, the King Namor’s Throne Room and Shuri’s Sunbird sets seem to show the character wearing a Black Panther suit. That said, it is also worth noting that neither of these sets features Black Panther’s infamous helmet.

At the same time, LEGO also has the upcoming Shuri’s Lab set, which features a more readily recognizable form of Shuri alongside a Black Panther figure. The specs on the model also read, “Shuri has power gloves to test while Black Panther whizzes around on his hoverboard.”

And if this is based on a scene in the movie, then that would mean that the new Black Panther is someone else.

As for Wright herself (who got caught in some controversy after being accused of being an anti-vaxxer), the actress has, understandably, stayed mum on the subject, only saying that the upcoming film is a true labor of love.

“We came together as a team,” she said. “And we poured everything into this movie, so I’m excited for you to see it.” Of her late co-star, Wright also said that the film’s cast “honored him by committing ourselves to the story that he started, the legacy that he started with this franchise.”

Meanwhile, according to LEGO, its latest Black Panther sets will be available starting October 1. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is set to release Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11. Until then, fans will just have to keep guessing who the new Black Panther really is.
