According to the House ratings at the Cook Political report only 15 of those 51 districts is currently seen as "competitive." The others have less of a chance of the seat flipping parties.

"If a blue wave is forming, it certainly hasn't crested. Maybe there's a red tide coming in and affecting the blue wave ?" said Daniel A. Smith, a University of Florida political science With close Senate and gubernatorial races, Florida is one of the most important states for both parties in the 2018 midterms.

In a tweet, the president mocked reports of Democratic Party strength heading into the midterm elections, predicting a so-called "red wave" of GOP victories instead.

Trump's tweet comes hours after Republicans in Tuesday's California primaries were able to secure runoff slots for top races in November. The GOP avoided a disaster scenario some experts predicted in which two Democratic candidates would take the top two slots in the races for governor and Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-Calif.) seat, which would have locked Republicans out of the races completely.

Democrats secured their own victories as well Tuesday night, however, securing at least a second-place finish in every race they targeted, ensuring that a Democratic candidate will exist in every race on the ballot this November.

California is home to 10 of the most competitive House races this November, as Democrats try to overcome a 23-seat deficit and retake control of the lower chamber. The latest CBS News/YouGov Battleground Tracker shows the Democrats with a slight advantage over Republicans currently for control of the House, well within the poll's margin of error.
