Tip leads to arrest in unsolved 1992 Iowa beating death An Iowa woman has been charged in the 1992 beating death of an engaged man with whom she allegedly had a sexual relationship. Annette Dee Cahill made a brief court appearance from the Muscatine County Jail on Friday, where she's being held on a $1 million bond. The 55-year-old Tipton woman is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 13, 1992 slaying of Corey Lee Wieneke, who was found dead on his bedroom floor in rural West Liberty. That information set into a motion a chain of events that allowed police to make the surprise arrest of Cahill, now a 55-year-old who has had no serious legal trouble, Thursday at her Tipton home, prosecutor Alan Ostergren said.

Johnny Tallbear has served 26 years and he has always maintained his innocence, officials said. He was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a homeless man known as "Pops."

The victim's body was found on October 3, 1991 on top of a pile of garbage near a deserted building in an area of Oklahoma City frequented by a homeless population, officials said. The man had been brutally stabbed and beaten.

A judge ruled Monday morning that Tallbear is innocent and that he will be released from prison, based on new DNA evidence.

Officials said two other blood types were found at the scene of the murder, and neither was Tallbear's type.

Tallbear is serving life sentence at North Fork Correctional Facility in Sayre.
