Andre Iguodala signed a three-year contract with Golden State before the season, and he was actually considering an exit from the Warriors.

At least he had Steve Kerr and the Warriors front office convinced he was.

Kerr told The Lowe Post podcast that Iguodala went as far as to stage a conference call with him and Warriors general manager Bob Myers. The point of the call was to tell the Warriors management that he had decided to sign with Sacramento … before telling them it was all a prank.

Kerr described the prank via goldenstateofmind.com:

"I guess Sacramento was involved, and they were offering him a big deal, and typical Andre he decided to play a joke on Bob and me, got us on a conference call and told us he was gonna go to Sacramento," Kerr said. "We wished him well and he was like 'I got you suckers, I'm coming back.'"

Dynasty in making? Warriors chase third title in 4 years

Dynasty in making? He pranked Steve Kerr and told him he was signing with the Kings. Andre Iguodala was contemplating leaving the Golden State Warriors in free agency last summer. Still, he took the opportunity to prank his head coach.

“For us to be able to throw Andre out there really 1 through 4 both offensively and defensively, it’s an incredibly valuable weapon,” coach Steve Kerr said. Many feared he might leave , but Iguodala received a million, three-year contract to stay put and chase another championship.

When asked if Iguodala was a good liar, Kerr hedged a little, saying, "I bought it for a few seconds, but he gave it away quickly. He just started laughing."

I wish the Kings were part of the conference call too, so Iguodala could have gone full Cliff Alexander with the prank.

But that would have been too cruel.
