  Trump approves financial aid for Hawaii lava damage President Donald Trump has approved Hawaii's request for help for residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged during a volcanic eruption. Qualifying residents may receive help from the federal government for issues such as shelter needs, unemployment, trauma and legal matters. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed since May 3, when Kilauea volcano erupted and opened fissures that oozed lava across a mostly rural section of the Big Island. Hawaii's congressional delegation urged Trump to act quickly on Ige's request.

Warren) PHOENIX — Authorities say an American Airlines flight from Arizona to Hawaii had to return to the Phoenix airport because of a problem with an exhaust gas temperature gauge.

They say Flight 692 circled Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport a few times Thursday to burn off fuel so an emergency landing could be avoided.

The Boeing 757 with 185 passengers and six crew members aboard landed safely.

American spokesman Ross Feinstein says passengers were being transferred to another plane that was scheduled to arrive early Friday in Honolulu.

A black woman was forced off of a Delta Air Lines flight at Fort Wayne International Airport after a spat with a flight attendant over whether or not her phone was in airplane mode. Three additional adult passengers, were booted from the flight after they stepped in to defend the woman. One of them was travelling with a child who was also forced to leave the plane.
