Yes, you can still recognize America

Yes, you can still recognize America Laura Ingraham has been rightly condemned for her comments on Wednesday that “some of us no longer recognize our own country” due to “demographic changes that have been foisted upon us” against our will. Granted, she did some of this foisting herself when she adopted a daughter from Central America, and that makes her comments harder to understand. But to define Americans in terms of demography is just something Americans should never do. To be sure, there is a long history in this nation of descendants of earlier immigration waves resisting the arrival of those who come later.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — No. 14 Michigan will start quarterback Shea Patterson in the season opener at No. 12 Notre Dame.

Harbaugh may have his best team at Michigan so far

Harbaugh may have his best team at Michigan so far Jim Harbaugh is in his fourth year at Michigan, where he has had time to assemble perhaps his best team. Former Mississippi star Shea Patterson gives Harbaugh the quarterback he has been looking for since coming back to his alma mater. Patterson will have experienced running backs behind him, talent at receiver and potentially a solid offensive line. On defense, the Wolverines seem to be stacked from front to back with playmakers such as Rashan Gary and Devin Bush among the unit's nine returning starters.''We want to be the No. 1 defense in the nation and lead all categories,'' Gary said.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — No surprise here: Shea Patterson is Michigan ’s starting quarterback . But backup Dylan McCaffrey also seems to be in coach Jim Harbaugh ’s plans. “All options are open that way, in terms of that,” Harbaugh said Monday. “Would like to definitely play both.”.

Ann Arbor — Shea Patterson will be Michigan 's starting quarterback when the season opens at Notre Dame on Sept. Patterson made 10 starts at Ole Miss, including three as a freshman in 2016. A knee injury cut short his season last year. He had completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 2,259

Coach Jim Harbaugh made the announcement Monday. He had earlier said Patterson was simply one of four quarterbacks competing to take the first snap, along with Brandon Peters, Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton.

Most expected the decision to start the experienced Patterson, who appealed to the NCAA to play this season after transferring from Mississippi. He threw for 3,000-plus yards with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over 10 starts at Ole Miss.

Peters started four games last season with uneven results. McCaffrey, a redshirt freshman, and Milton, a true freshman, haven't taken a snap in college.
