According to Tagesspiegel information, the allegations against Fischer came to light in the course of the investigation against CDU MP Karin Strenz, who is also accused of having received money from Azerbaijan and representing the interests of the country in the Council of Europe. As a result, the politician's immunity had already been lifted at the beginning of 2020, and her offices and apartments were also searched. In addition, the former CSU parliamentarian Eduard Lintner is being investigated.

This means that three members of the Union are currently suspected of being corrupt. Last week it became known that there was an initial suspicion of bribery in connection with the purchase of protective masks against the previous vice-member of the parliamentary group Georg Nüßlein.
