"I think that's the plan," Dershowitz told Fox News's Sean Hannity, when asked about Mueller's ultimate endgame.

Dershowitz added that he doesn't believe Trump should "plead the fifth."

"If he pleads the fifth, Mueller gives him immunity and then he has to testify and immunity doesn't cover impeachment," Dershowitz said.

Mueller is investigating Russian election interference and possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Renown liberal legal scholar Alan Dershowitz stated on Monday, following a raid of President Donald Trump ’ s personal attorney’ s office and home, that the goal of special counsel Robert Mueller appears to be to produce a report that will be used to impeach the chief executive.

Dershowitz's comments come after the FBI on Monday raided the office of Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

Cohen's lawyer, Stephen Ryan, said in a statement that federal prosecutors in New York City obtained a search warrant after receiving a referral "in part" from Mueller.

The raid enraged Trump, who condemned the move as a "disgrace" and a "pure and simple witch hunt."

The fiery comments immediately sparked speculation that the FBI raid on Cohen's office could lead Trump to take steps to try and fire Mueller, who is investigating Russian election interference and possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"We'll see what happens. ... Many people have said, 'You should fire [Mueller],' " Trump said. "Again, they found nothing and in finding nothing, that's a big statement."

At the White House, Trump Takes Selfies and Seethes Over Mueller President Trump ate dinner with the Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz as he continued raging over news that the F.B.I. had carried out raids on his longtime personal lawyer.WASHINGTON — Outside the White House, President Trump grinned for selfies with Alabama’s Crimson Tide, telling the college football champions that they had beaten their rivals so brutally, “you flat-out made them quit” — a feat he said he knew something about himself.

Mueller ' s goal is to search for and find the truth. Anyone who thinks differently probably has another agenda. If it happens to show Trump 's involvement, then yes, it might be used for impeachment

Congress . Dershowitz has become one of the president’s most reliable TV defenders, routinely attacking the legal grounds for Mueller ’ s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and defending Trump ’s right to fire former FBI Director James Comey.

Dershowitz, who is an opinion contributor for The Hill, also said the FBI raid of Cohen marked a "very dangerous day" for "lawyer-client relations."

What Sean Hannity Has Been Saying About Michael Cohen .
The Fox News host has criticized the raid on President Trump’s lawyer multiple times — but he never disclosed his connection to the lawyer.During a court hearing earlier that day, Mr. Hannity was named as a client of President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, whose office, home and hotel room were raided and searched by F.B.I. agents on April 9 as part of a criminal investigation.
