Democratic Debate Highlights: Candidates Make Forceful Cases for Progressive Policies The candidates on stage tonight: Bill de Blasio, Tim Ryan, Julián Castro, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, Amy Klobuchar, Tulsi Gabbard, Jay Inslee and John Delaney. The economy, health care, guns and abortion dominated the first Democratic debate. Several Democratic candidates on stage gave an aggressive defense of their party’s progressivism on economic inequality, guns, abortion and immigration. Ms. Warren emerged as the early center of gravity in the debate, especially on economic matters, but the jousting among the 10 candidates led to an often-fragmented first hour. Some of the clearest contrasts came on health care, as Ms. Warren and Mr.

WASHINGTON – He couldn’t resist.

President Donald Trump suggested Wednesday he wouldn’t be live tweeting the Democratic presidential debate in Miami because he was on Air Force One en route to Japan and off “to save the world.”

But roughly half an hour into the debate, Trump tweeted out his snarky, all-caps, one-word review: “BORING!”

Trump’s decision to weigh in on the debate ran counter to the advice of many Republican strategists, who suggested he should resist the temptation to respond as 10 Democratic hopefuls battled each other and courted their party’s liberal base.

But staying on the sidelines isn’t Trump’s style.

Just a few minutes after his less-than-favorable review of the debate, Trump was at it again, this time slamming the debate host NBC for a technical glitch that stopped the program for a few minutes.

“@NBCNews and @MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves for having such a horrible technical breakdown in the middle of the debate,” Trump tweeted. “Truly unprofessional and only worthy of a FAKE NEWS Organization, which they are.”

Other Republicans also offered their take on the debate.

Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, offered a running commentary on Twitter. He slammed the Democratic candidates as “hypocrites” but suggested the debates are “great” because “the American people can now see how far left the candidates are.”

“If these policies were implemented millions of foreigners would flood our system and overwhelm public services,” he said. “They are disconnected from reality!”

Trump’s campaign issued a statement after the debate saying it was “the best argument for President Trump’s re-election and should really be counted as an in-kind contribution” to his campaign.

“The Democrats proposed a radical government takeover of American society that would demolish the American dream so many are gaining access to under the growing Trump economy,” campaign spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said.

Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, slammed the Democrats over their response to questions about migrants entering the U.S.

“Not a single Democrat on stage has said it should be a crime to illegally cross the border,” she said. “Make no mistake: The Democrat Party in 2020 is for open borders.”

Trump pal Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was equally unimpressed.

“After tonight’s #DemocraticDebate.......that whole Trump 3rd term thing is looking better and better,” Graham tweeted, an apparent reference to Trump’s recent statement that his supporters might insist he stick around for a third term.

Not long before Graham's tweet, Trump seemed to have a similar idea. The president retweeted a video he'd posted previously that suggests he might serve in the Oval Office for a never-ending term.

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution explicitly states that "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice."
