Documents released late Friday show Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was in contact with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the months before the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine was abruptly recalled. The State Department released the documents to the group American Oversight in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors unsealed charges on Thursday against two men who have Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that the two men were charged with making Prosecutor Announces Arrest of 2 Giuliani Associates .

Federal prosecutors on Monday said they are "likely" to file new criminal charges in a pending case involving associates of Rudy Giuliani, the personal lawyer of President Donald Trump.
"We think a superseding indictment is likely," said a prosecutor during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Manhattan for the case of Giuliani associates Lev Parnas, Igor Fruman and two other men, Andrey Kukushkin, and David Correia, who are accused of violating federal campaign finance laws.
However, the prosecutor said no firm decision has been made on whether to file additional charges.
"We are continuing to evaluate," he said.
Parnas and Fruman were helping Giuliani in an effort to get the government of Ukraine to launch investigations of former Vice President Joe Biden and of a conspiracy theory that Ukraine meddled in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
That effort, and Trump's participation in it, are the subject of ongoing impeachment proceedings against Trump in the House of Representatives.
