Biden Hits Trump’s Coronavirus Response: ‘He’s Worried About Looking Bad’
Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Thursday laced into President Trump, condemning him for saying he ordered a slowdown of coronavirus testing and comparing the sitting president to a whiny child. “He admitted telling people, and I quote, ‘You have to slow the testing down, slow it down please,’” said Mr. Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “He thinks that finding out that more Americans are sick will make him look bad. That’s what he’s worried about, he’s worried about looking bad.
Joe Biden blasted President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday and announced a plan to control the virus that he said Trump should adopt immediately.
During a speech at Alexis I. duPont High School in Wilmington, Biden outlined the plan, which includes increased testing and rigorous contact tracing, and follows a roadmap that Biden released in March that he said would have saved lives if it had been adopted.
Biden also stressed the need to provide more protective supplies to health care workers and for citizens to wear a mask in public.

The former vice president stressed that the virus is still here and the threat to American public health remains.
"We need real plans, real guidelines," Biden said.
BIDEN BACK ON THE ROAD:
Biden, who spoke to a gaggle of reporters in the school gym shortly after 1 p.m., cited the increase in infection rates across the country and said that Trump has severely mismanaged the pandemic. He criticized Trump for pushing for a swift reopening and playing golf as infection rates rise across the country.
Biden has consistently criticized Trump for his handling of the pandemic in speeches and on social media. Politico reported that Biden,in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, compared Trump's response to "a child who can’t believe this has happened to him — all his whining and self-pity."

LEADING THE POLLS:
The former vice president is surging in national polls as he returns to the trail following a stint of campaigning from his basement during the pandemic. Thirteen consecutive national polls released between June 5 and June 26 showed Biden ahead by at least 7 percentage points.
The Republican Party issued its criticism of Biden ahead of the Tuesday speech.
“Joe Biden’s 40-year record is such a complete failure that he’s blatantly refusing to hold a press conference over the past 89 days,” said Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Joyce in a statement. “Meanwhile, Delawareans know that President Trump is a winner; President Trump built the greatest economy in the history of the world and he’s going to do it again.”
