Oracle Would Get Access to TikTok Code in Proposed Deal

Oracle Would Get Access to TikTok Code in Proposed Deal Oracle Corp. will get full access to review TikTok’s source code and updates to make sure there are no back doors used by the company’s Chinese parent to gather data on the video-sharing app’s 100 million American users, according to people familiar with the matter. © Bloomberg TikTok app TikTok parent ByteDance Ltd. and Oracle submitted these details in their proposal to the Trump administration with a goal of averting an outright sale of the app or a shutdown of its U.S. operations set to take effect Sept. 20. The donation was reportedly made on Sept. 14, just hours after Oracle announced it had been selected by social media company TikTok as its secure cloud technology provider.

TikTok has taken criticism from some U.S. lawmakers over its ties to the Chinese government, and Graham was pivotal in helping secure the deal with a U.S.-based company, the outlet reported.

"If TikTok is saved, you can thank me," Graham said at the time.

Graham is currently in the home stretch of a brutal fundraising fight against Democratic challenger Jamie Harrison, who has raised the most money in the history of any Senate campaign.

"My opponent will raise $100 million in the state of South Carolina," Graham said in September. "The most money ever spent in the history of the state on a Senate race in this state was by me in 2014 when I spent $13 million."
