WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Joe Biden met with King Salman of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, stressing the importance of respecting human rights and promising to make the relationship between Washington and Riyadh more solid and more transparent, reported the White House.

The two leaders discussed the US commitment to help Saudi Arabia defend itself against attacks by Iranian-backed groups, the US presidency said in a statement.
