Hunter Biden offered a pep talk and civics lesson to a close friend who complained that unnamed Joe Biden "appointees" arrested him and tried to "ruin my family," according to text messages obtained by the Washington Examiner.

“Every great family is persecuted prosecuted in the US — you are part of a great family — not a side show not deserted by them even in your darkest moments,” Hunter Biden told business partner Devon Archer in 2019. “That’s the way Bidens are different and you are a Biden. It’s the price of power.”

Hunter Biden goes on text tirade over negative press, says dad won't help Hunter Biden went on a text tirade about his negative media coverage during his father’s presidential campaign, claiming to be “the most ethical man you will ever know” and saying he's “never done a dishonest business transaction in my life,” according to screenshots from his laptop. © Provided by Washington Examiner He also claimed to get no help defending his reputation. Enraged in 2019 over a New York Times column by Maureen Dowd questioning whether Joe Biden could win given his family tree, Hunter Biden lashed out at a close relative who urged him to stay sober and suggested therapy.“You think I’m a criminal.

Archer was arrested in 2016, when Joe Biden was still vice president, on charges of a bond sale scheme to defraud investors. He was convicted in 2018, but the case was reversed. In 2020, an appellate court reinstated the conviction. It's not clear if this case was the focus of Archer's texts.

The future first son’s name was used in the bond sale for legitimacy, a federal judge wrote, but he was not charged in the fraud case.

Biden and Archer were longtime friends and business partners, working together for the Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm prior to both men joining the board of Burisma in 2014. Archer was the former college roommate of Christopher Heinz, the stepson of current Biden climate czar John Kerry and the co-founder of the Rosemont Capital private equity firm with Archer.

The text exchange started when Biden asked Archer to try Cash App, which is similar to PayPal.

“Try using my code and we’ll each get $5,” Biden said, then started chatting about a Massachusetts ski resort. Archer responded the following day that he doesn’t have a bank account to link to the app.

Then, another day went by, and Archer wrote:

“Why did your dad’s administration appointees arrest me and try to put me in jail? Just curious. Some of our partners asking out here.

"Why would they try to ruin my family and destroy my kids and no one from your family’s side step in and at least try to help me. I don’t get it. And I’m depressed. Bunch of these [Asian partners] getting in my head asking me the same so just curious what I should answer.”

Biden responded:

“Every president’s family is held to a higher standard [and] a target. It’s the price of being the most powerful group of people in the world. It’s why our democracy remains viable. It’s unfair at times but in the end the system of justice usually works and like you we are redeemed and the truth prevails. The unfairness to us allows for the greater good.”

Jill Biden to meet the Queen

Jill Biden to meet the Queen Almost five months into her new job, Jill Biden is still revealing what kind of first lady she wants to be, but one thing is already clear: you can call her "Jill."Biden has insisted at just about every turn that people address her by her first name. She means it -- people actually call her that or, sometimes, "Dr. B." The familiar approachability is part of the Biden narrative, and an aspect of her personality into which she leans hard.

He then gave the comment about Archer being part of his family before saying:

“And we aren’t a banana republic buddy. The powerful are targets in this country the more powerful they become. But the truth prevails if you have the stamina and guts and enough love to stay the course.”

Emails seeking comment from Archer and his attorney, Matthew Schwartz, were not answered.

Archer and several others were charged with selling $60 million in worthless securities to the Oglala Sioux Native American tribe. He listed Joe and Hunter Biden as potential witnesses in a questionnaire for potential jurors, KFMZ-TV reported. Apparently, this didn’t sit well with the younger Biden.

In a 2018 tape-recorded conversation with an unidentified woman, Biden bemoaned being unable to keep up with the large number of phone calls he receives on a daily basis. He mentioned Archer’s case:

"I am receiving calls from the southern district of New York, the U.S. attorney himself. My best friend in business, Devon, has named me as a witness without telling me in a criminal case — and my father [too] — without telling me?” he said.

A census listed him as a resident of Maryland, one of about 10 million people then living in the US. He was part of a growing community of immigrants who, in many cases, were lured to the country by the promise of a better life.
