The US Senate voted 83-16 on Thursday to confirm Zahid Quraishi's nomination as the US District Judge for the District of New Jersey, making him the first Muslim-American in U.S. history to serve as a federal judge.

In March, President Joe Biden announced he would nominate Zahid Quraishi , a magistrate judge in New Jersey since 2019, to join the United States District Court for New Jersey, a post that would make him the first Muslim federal judge in America .
