My state (Maine) legalized back in like 2016/17 and this year MJ was our number one crop, making like 222 million in revenue. And the taxes go back to the towns, the public education system, law enforcement training, and the state fund (maybe infrastructure too?). It’s a pretty awesome extra source of money to help support the state imagine how much money we could put back into the country with federal legalization. As soon as it’s legal it’ll be forced onto me, much like gay marriage and abortion.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is planning to bring President Biden's social and climate spending bill to the floor as soon as the week of Dec. 13, a source familiar confirmed to The Hill.

Schumer's plan is to bring the bill, known as Build Back Better, to the Senate floor once Democrats finish their conversations with the parliamentarian, who provides guidance on what can be included in a bill passed through budget reconciliation.

"As soon as the necessary technical and procedural work with the Senate parliamentarian has been completed... the Senate will take up this legislation," Schumer told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.

We can not go back to normal without each and ever person being held accountable, if they go soft on this, then I have no choice but to believe they are hiding something. We can’t pretend this is over because trump is out of office, because another trump will surface and that person might not be as stupid as trump and finish what he started. "Once that's complete, we're ready to move Build Back Better to the floor," Schumer added about the talks with the parliamentarian.

The source said Schumer was privately telling people the bill could be brought to the floor as soon as the week of Dec. 13 under the presumption that talks with the parliamentarian eat up this week and next week.

Schumer publicly mirrored that timeline, which was first reported by Politico, during a floor speech on Monday, saying that talks with the referee had taken place over the Thanksgiving break and "will continue this week and next week as needed."

The House could vote as early as Wednesday on a temporary measure to fund the government through the beginning of next year. Funding for government runs out Friday at midnight. Move would buy time for Democrats to deal with other funding issues. Those include passing a critical defense bill, raising the debt ceiling and final approval for President Joe Biden's signature Build Back Better The last thing the American people need right now is a government shutdown, and Democrats are going to work this week to make sure we don't have one,' Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said on Monday.

" Build back better " is actually a United Nations invented phrase and what it actually means is more world government, more green taxes and regulation, more expensive energy, more identity politics, more corporatism — and, of course, less freedom and entrepreneurialism. This week , in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, The Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership has launched the ' Build Back Better ' campaign - an initiative which sets out to build back the economy and create a better opportunity for a strong and successful recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We expect to see action before Christmas. That's a positive sign in our view. And so, we will just continue to work in lockstep with his office and with the Budget Committee to continue moving this forward to be prepared to go to the floor that week," Psaki said.

Schumer is working to move the massive bill as Congress faces a packed year-end schedule. Congress has until the end of Friday to pass a government funding bill and avoid a shutdown, while Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned that lawmakers have until Dec. 15 to raise the nation's debt limit.

Schumer and Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) are in talks over the debt ceiling. Schumer told reporters that they were having "good negotiations" on the debt ceiling, while McConnell told reporters that they were "having useful discussions about a way forward."

To start debate on the Build Back Better legislation, Schumer would also need total unity from his caucus, something that he doesn't have yet.

Top Democrats Urge Joe Biden to Cancel $50,000 in Student Loans Per Person "With the stroke of a pen, he can follow through on his promise and bring life-changing relief for tens of millions of Americans," Senantor Chuck Schumer wrote in an op-ed.The call follows the publishing of a letter released last Friday where party leaders, headed by Sena Elizabeth Warren, Representative Ayanna Pressley, and Representative Joe Courtney called on President Joe Biden to extend the pause on student loan payments, originally implemented at the start of the pandemic, until next spring.

The House could vote as early as Wednesday on the measure, which would need to pass the Senate by Friday. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell would need to agree to the deal so Senate Democrats can avoid a GOP-led filibuster, but Punchbowl reported that's likely to happen as a It's also not expected to be added to the stop-gap spending bill, even though that would allow Congress to get both items out of the way. Neither Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) have said if they support the spending bill. Manchin has also declined to say if he would vote to start debate - something that Democrats won't be able to do without Manchin's support.

Both sides are aware that Manchin is a key vote, with the Democrat senator meeting with both Schumer and McConnell on Tuesday.

Manchin's discussion with Schumer focused on climate and energy issues, where Manchin has outlined areas of concern.

"We've had a good meeting with Senator Manchin today ... and we're going to get this bill done with 50 Democrats before Christmas, that's our goal," Schumer said.

Republicans also noted during their press conference that it would only take one Democrat to sink the bill, in a backhanded reference to Manchin.

"I think we all know the situation we're in. ...We all know that it would only take one Democrat to tank it," he said.

Asked about his meeting with Manchin, McConnell added to reporters: "Senator Manchin loves to talk to everybody. He talks to you. He talks to us."

"We had a great discussion. I enjoy Joe's company," McConnell added. "I admire Senator Manchin. I think he's in a really challenging position. ...I pull for him every day, pray for him every night."
