Oakland County Sheriff's Office undersheriff Michael McCabe said Tuesday the shooting happened just before 1 p.m at Oxford High School, adding that between four to six people were injured in the incident.

Oxford High School is located 45 miles north of Detroit, NBC News reported

McCabe added the suspected shooter was arrested and taken into custody, and officers located a handgun at the scene as well, according to NBC News.

Students who were evacuated from the campus will be taken to a nearby store and reunited with their parents or guardians, NBC News noted.

"We are still doing a secondary search of the school for any further victims," McCabe said.

There are no confirmed fatalities from the incident and conditions of those injured are not yet known, McCabe said.

The Hill has reached out to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for more information.
