Fauci uses Jan. 6 to distract from COVID origin questions

Fauci has been at the center of conservative outrage following an interview he gave to CBS' Face the Nation on November 28 where he appeared to hit out at Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and other critics, saying "I represent science."

Cruz strongly criticized Fauci during an appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show on Monday, calling him "the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country."

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) appeared on The Ingraham Angle on Monday and accused Fauci of becoming "an open partisan."

Tucker Carlson compared Fauci to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini during his Fox News primetime show on Monday.

"If you tune in a couple years ago you may recall Fauci as a conventional public health official. He wore button-down shirts, he gave careful, precise answers that suggested deep medical knowledge. No more," Carlson said.

"After two years of being nonstop media adulation, Tony Fauci has morphed into an even shorter version of Benito Mussolini," he said.

Ted Cruz fired back at Dr. Anthony Fauci in a war of words mixed with a cocktail of science, politics, and COVID-19. © Provided by Washington Examiner The Texas Republican sent a sharply worded tweeted thread in response to Fauci, who is President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, condemning GOP senators for "dangerous" rhetoric aimed at him, and by extension, science. "Fauci is an unelected technocrat who has distorted science and facts in order to exercise authoritarian control over millions of Americans," Cruz said Sunday evening.

Lara Logan, who hosts a show on Fox News' streaming platform Fox Nation, compared Fauci to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele during an appearance on the network on Monday.

Fauci responded to Logan's comments during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Friday.

"What I find striking, Chris, is how she gets no discipline whatsoever from the Fox network. How they can let her say that with no comment and no disciplinary action. I'm astounded by that," he said.
