OnePlus confirms the 5T will keep the headphone jack

OnePlus confirms the 5T will keep the headphone jack While the headphone jack on smartphones isn't an endangered species just yet, it's clearly falling out of favor -- and that's bound to make you nervous if you don't want to live the dongle lifestyle. You won't have that problem with the OnePlus 5T, at least. OnePlus has not only confirmed that the 5T is coming, but is boasting that its upcoming handset will keep the 3.5mm port that so many hold dear. It cites both usage habits (almost 80 percent of OnePlus users rely on 3.5mm headphones) and its own analysis.

OnePlus really didn't waste any time fulfilling its promise of bringing the 5 T ' s Face Unlock feature to the original 5. The smartphone maker has rolled out an OxygenOS beta that lets OnePlus 5 owners sign in with a quick glimpse at their phone, just like those with newer handsets. This isn't a stable

The OnePlus 5 is to receive the face unlock technology already present on the OnePlus 5 T , according to a tweet from Carl Pei. The OnePlus 5 T launched with its fingerprint sensor on the back instead of the front, a radical design departure from its predecessors.

OnePlus really didn't waste any time fulfilling its promise of bringing the 5T's Face Unlock feature to the original 5. The smartphone maker has rolled out an OxygenOS beta that lets OnePlus 5 owners sign in with a quick glimpse at their phone, just like those with newer handsets. This isn't a stable release, so you probably don't want to install this if you can't afford to deal with glitches, but it beats waiting weeks into 2018 to give the feature a try.

As before, Face Unlock isn't strictly secure -- it's not using depth sensors, iris scanning or other methods that reduce the chances of someone fooling the system. This is about convenience more than anything else. OnePlus doesn't pretend otherwise, though, and it's good to see a tentpole feature coming to a not-so-current device.

But a new camera mod called the Camera M Mod makes things even better with improved detail in captured images. And best of all? You can download it for free right now.The camera is the one area of the OnePlus 5T where things aren’t quite as good as the competition. It’s decent enough, but it’s no way near as good as the shooter on the Google Pixel 2 XL or the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.The Camera M Mod, however, helps to lessen this disparity.
