Teacher Scott Beigel, who saved students during shooting, honored for heroism and dedication Scott Beigel's heroism and dedication were the hallmarks of his life. Beigel, a geography teacher, was among the 17 people killed in Wednesday's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. At least 350 family members, friends, students and colleagues gathered for his funeral Sunday at Temple Beth-El in Boca Raton. As shots rang out, Beigel unlocked a door to a classroom to let students hide inside as a gunman stalked the halls. While some made it inside, Beigel was shot.Beigel was a dedicated teacher, a cross-country coach and a summer camp counselor. 1/5 SLIDES © MATIAS J.

The new Sony Xperia XZ 2 Premium has a dual -lens camera that can reach a ridiculously high ISO of 51,200 for photos and 12,800 for video. It retains the same overall design as the XZ 2 — a departure from Sony ’ s past phones — but upgrades the display , camera , battery, and other specs.

Sony remains the only maker to offer a 4 K display on a smartphone three years after they went all out with the Z5 Premium . Sunlight legibility on the XZ 2 Premium isn't great. It matches the previous Premium in contrast under direct light , but that' s a pretty low bar, with virtually all competitors being

Less than two months after unveiling the Xperia XZ2 at Mobile World Congress, Sony is back again with the Xperia XZ2 Premium. It retains the same overall design as the XZ2 — a departure from Sony’s past phones — but upgrades the display, camera, and battery. The XZ2 Premium will be available beginning this summer. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Sony is putting a 5.8-inch 4K display in the XZ2 Premium, an improvement over the 5.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) screen on the regular XZ2. Both of them support HDR video. When you’re watching videos, listening to music, or playing games, you’ll notice the new vibration system that debuted in the XZ2; it’s meant to provide rumble feedback to match whatever’s happening on screen, but felt somewhat gimmicky in my hands-on time with the standard model.

Teachers say Florida suspect’s problems started in middle school, and the system tried to help him Nikolas Cruz had constant disciplinary issues, vocal outbursts, physical confrontations and appeared to be on a troublesome path. In the years before he would allegedly carry out one of the worst mass shootings at a school in U.S. history, Cruz faced a long string of escalating disciplinary measures throughout his academic career for insubordination, profanity, disruption, fighting and assault.“I can say I was so uncomfortable around him, I did not want to be alone with him in my classroom,” said one former teacher, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic.

For all the attention Sony has given low - light superiority, it's encouraging to know the XZ 2 Premium can still impress in the sun. Bottom Line. Between its ultrasharp display and state-of-the-art dual cameras , the Sony Xperia XZ 2 Premium represents the best of Sony ' s mobile technologies realized

The Xperia XZ 2 Premium is the first Sony smartphone with a dual camera - 'better late than never' seems appropriate. It may be the last of the big names to warm up to the This one also has an even wider aperture at f/1.6. Theoretically, this should make it one hell of a camera for low - light shooting .

The biggest upgrade here, according to Sony, is the camera. The XZ2 Premium has two of them around back — a first for Sony. Rather than having a telephoto / zoom lens like Apple, Samsung, or OnePlus, Sony is using the same strategy as other companies and splitting image capture between them. One sensor shoots black and white, and the other does color.

But where Sony is trying to best everyone and stand out is in ISO performance. When shooting stills, the XZ2 Premium can reach a maximum ISO of 51,200. Videos go as high as 12,800. Normally anything you’d get at those numbers on a smartphone would look like grainy garbage, but Sony claims its “AUBE fusion image signal processor” can combine the data of both sensors, optimize for low light, and reduce noise so you get usable results. We’ll have to see how it actually pans out in real world use, but Sony claims this allows for “ultra-low-light capture previously only seen in interchangeable lens cameras.”

The Xperia XZ 2 Premium is the first phone from Sony to feature two cameras on the rear. One uses a 12MP monochrome sensor while the other uses a The cameras also have a portrait feature (called Bokeh mode), and an option to use only the monochrome sensor for shooting in black and white

Although Sony ’ s previously XZ Premium had a 5.7-inch 4 K display , the new XZ 2 steps this up with a brand new 5.8-inch 4 K display that also includes support for HDR video playback. The new dual -rear camera combines the 19MP sensor from the standard XZ 2 with a 12MP monochrome sensor to

The dual camera system will also have a portrait feature (which Sony simply calls Bokeh mode) and will let you shoot using only the monochrome sensor for crisp, detailed black and white shots. Oddly, these two features won’t be on the XZ2 Premium at launch and will arrive in a Q3 software update. Like the XZ2, the Premium can record 960fps slow-mo video at 1080p resolution, an improvement over the 720p limitation on Samsung’s Galaxy S9.

Other improvements on the XZ2 Premium include RAM (now 6GB), battery capacity (3,540mAh), and a sharper front-facing camera.

What’s better about the XZ2 Premium?

  1. Display: The Premium model has a 5.8-inch 4K HDR screen, while the regular XZ2 has a 5.7-inch Full HD+ panel. Both are LCD and support HDR video.
  2. RAM: Sony’s putting 6GB of RAM in the XZ2 Premium versus the 4GB in the standard XZ2.
  3. Rear camera(s): Sony switched to a dual-camera system for the XZ2 Premium, which can capture higher-ISO photos and video. Portrait and black and white shooting modes will be added in a future software update. The XZ2 has a single 19-megapixel sensor.
  4. Front camera: The XZ2 Premium has a 13-megapixel selfie camera. The XZ2’s is 5MP.
  5. Battery: The battery inside the Premium is 3540mAh compared to the 3180mAh battery in the regular model. That might not necessarily mean superior battery life, however, since the XZ2 Premium has to power a much higher-resolution display.

Other key specs remain the same as on the XZ2. Both phones ship with Android 8.0 Oreo and have a Snapdragon 845 processor inside.
