Google just changed the name of Android Wear to Wear OS
The Android Wear brand introduced in 2014 is going away and being replaced with a new name: Wear OS. A new area of Google’s website has officially confirmed the change. Wear OS even has a new slogan: “Make every minute matter.” For now, that’s really all the news there is; since it works on both Android and iOS, Google’s smartwatch platform is being given a more flexible moniker that doesn’t tie it to a specific mobile operating system. You'll experience this in a variety of ways as you're using a phone that runs Android P, Burke said. For example, plug in your headphones, and you'll see an "action" on your screen that lets you press play on music you were listening to earlier.
Actions will eventually appear as you're interacting with the launcher, Google's Play Store and Assistant, as well as smart text selection and Google search.
Android P Could Block Many Apps From Working
Google is imposing stricter rules for Android apps, so many apps could be blocked from running when Android P comes out.The Mountain View giant announced last December that it is implementing new requirements for Android apps. Part of which is demanding developers to ensure that their apps in the Play Store would have to target an API level no more than 1 year older than the current codename release. According to Android Police, this would mean that apps submitted to the Play Store following Android P’s release need to target for Android 8.0 Oreo or above.

"The phone is adapting to me and trying to help me get to my next task more quickly," Burke said. It's one way that Google is applying artificial intelligence to phones, he added, saying the move will make "Android smart by teaching the operating system to adapt to the user."
Android P will also show you what it calls "slices," or a small section of an app's interface, when you might need it. For example, Burke said, if you look up Lyft in Google search, a slice of the Lyft app will appear on the screen, giving you the option to start a ride request.
Slices will eventually show up in a variety of places on your Android phone, but they'll first appear in search, Burke said. The goal is to "enable a dynamic two-way experience where the app's UI can intelligently show up in context."
Early access to the feature will begin in June.
Android Messages will let you send texts from your computer .
Google is beginning to roll out desktop browser support for Android Messages, allowing people to use their PC for sending messages and viewing those that have been received on their Android smartphone. To get started, the Android Messages website has you scan a QR code using the Android Messages mobile app, which creates a link between the two. That’s very similar to how the web client for Allo — remember Allo? — worked. Unfortunately, that section of the Messages app isn’t yet live. Hopefully it won’t be long before it shows up and you can start chatting across platforms.
