Google Duo rolls out group calling to select regions

Google Duo rolls out group calling to select regions On Tuesday, Google Indonesia announced via Twitter that Duo, Google's answer to FaceTime and Skype, has begun rolling out across the country, supporting group video calls with up to four people.

After only being available in select regions for a few weeks, Google Duo's feature started rolling out Thursday to all iOS and Android users across the globe.

After Microsoft rolled out support for 50-person Skype group calls in April and Apple's Facetime gained group call support up to 32 members last October, Google has finally entered the race -- albeit only offering eight-person support -- thanks to Duo's new feature that officially rolled out everywhere this week for both Android and iOS users.

This update was accompanied by two additional features -- a new data saving mode and the ability to personalize video messages.

The former update allows those in designated regions like Indonesia, India, and Brazil where using data is spendy to limit data usage on mobile networks and Wi-Fi on Android. Already on Android and coming soon to iOS, users can personalize video messages with text, emojis and drawings.

Eight-person video calling rolled out Thursday, and data saving mode will roll out in the upcoming months.

Google is adding offline saving option to all files on Google Drive image 1 Google is giving users the ability to access any Google Drive files offline via a web browser. You already have the ability to do this using the official Backup and Sync desktop software, but soon you'll be able to do it via a web browser too. This new functionality is similar to that currently offered in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides and that offline editing has been around for ages. But now it's more powerful as it includes any file in Google Drive.
