First 5G Huawei smartphones due late 2019 The new Huawei P30 and P30 Pro smartphones are not expected to land in 5G versions, according to the firm's CEO, Richard Yu, in an interview reported by MySmartPrice. The brand's first 5G model is likely to be the forthcoming Mate 30, scheduled to be unveiled in fall 2019 -- not to mention the firm's first folding smartphone, the Mate X, due to launch soon in selected markets. While Huawei started the year focusing on camera technology, unveiling its new P30 smartphone series in Paris, the Chinese manufacturer now has another major technology in its sights: 5G.

MicroSD cards have been more or less the defacto medium of expandable storage when it comes to our smartphones . Unfortunately, it seems that moving forwards, Huawei will no longer be able to use SD or microSD cards in its future products.

While current Huawei phones with microSD card slots will continue to work just fine, this likely means future devices from the Last October, Huawei unveiled its own proprietary system for expandable storage using its "NM Cards ." While not as convenient as being able to go out and buy any microSD

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse to, well, even worse for Huawei. And there doesn't appear to be an end is sight, as the SD Association, a non-profit organization in charge of the standards for SD and microSD products, has ejected the company from its membership list.

This means that Huawei would be required to get a license to use SD card technology separately, which might not be possible given the current mood.

Oddly enough, it seems that Huawei has also been planning for this day, since it has been developing its own "Nano Memory Card" which is 45 percent smaller than a microSD card.

But consumers can be resistant to such changes. Not to mention that the cards are vastly more expensive than existing microSD cards.
