Farid Bang and Kollegah visit Auschwitz memorial
Many concentration camp survivors have been waiting for this sign for a long time: The rapists who have come under criticism for anti-Semitic texts Kollegah and Farid Bang visited Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Good sign! The two gangster rappers Kollegah (33) and Farid Bang (32) have visited the concentration camp memorial in Auschwitz-Birkenau, according to media reports. They followed the invitation of the International Auschwitz Committee, which suggested the visit to the musicians.
Christoph Heubner, vice-president of the committee, accompanied Kollegah and Farid Bang. He said that the rappers' visit to the Auschwitz survivors is a source of satisfaction and a gesture to their young fans that hatred, contempt for the human race and anti-Semitism should not have a place in any art. The rappers, as they say, put down flowers on the infamous "Death Wall" at Block 11 in honor of the murdered.
The visit of the two was deliberately agreed as a private non-public visit. As Heubner says, Kollegah and Farid Bang "thoughtfully, concerned and full of questions" would have left the concentration camp memorial site. What's behind the visit?
In April, the rappers were criticized because they were nominated for anti-Semitic texts for the echo and even won it in the end. The award led to major protests within the music scene, which ultimately led to the abolition of the music award. In a song by Kollegah and Farid Bang it says, among other things, "My body more defined than by Auschwitz inmates". Maybe the two rappers are now thinking about their visit to the concentration camp memorial, and in the future will do without tasteless comparisons.
