Google adds another 37 apps to its Play Pass subscription service

  Google adds another 37 apps to its Play Pass subscription service Rather than buying hundreds of individual apps for your mobile device, companies are increasingly offering subscriptions where you pay a single monthly fee to access all the apps you want. Play Pass, Google's Android app subscription service, launched in September with a catalog of more than 350 apps. The service faces stiff competition in the form of Apple Arcade though, so Google has now expanded its program to offer a further 37 games and apps.

According to an update on Apple's status page posted at 7:27 a.m. PT Friday morning, the company said that "users are experiencing a problem with this service" and that it is "investigating this issue." Downdetector.com, which monitors online services for outages, noted issues with connecting to the App Store in parts of Europe and the US.

Apple's App Store continues to grow.

CNET staffers in New York and San Francisco were able to access the store without issues, but an editor in Texas encountered error messages when trying to access the App Store and Apple Music on Friday morning.

Both have since returned, with the support page showing no issues as of 10:37 a.m. PT.

According to the company's support page all other services, including iMessage, Apple Music and iCloud, should be working fine.

Knife-wielding man fatally shot by deputies at Orange County furniture store .
A man was fatally shot by Orange County deputies after he was hit by two cars and then ran into a furniture store and threatened employees with a knife, officials said. Officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to a La-Z-Boy furniture store on East Colonial Drive near Alafaya Trail around 6 p.m. Sign up for our Newsletters Deputies said a man who witnesses say intentionally ran into traffic and was hit by two cars had proceeded to run into the store and was threatening employees with a knife. Deputies said the man was asked to drop the knife but did not comply. Officials said he lunged or ran toward the deputies and they opened fire.
