  Giphy's new video platform is basically GIFs with sound Wherever you side on the pronunciation of GIF (JIF?), it's undeniable that they've become a critical part of our everyday communications. WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook support them as standard, and you've likely received more than one email from zany creative types with them embedded in their signature. Now, like the silent movie coming of age, they're getting a voice: Giphy is adding sound to its library of animated GIFs and stickers. TheThe company has previous in pushing the envelope in this area, partnering with Snapchat and then launching its own video platform. Now, as Varietyreports, Giphy Video will feature content with audio -- although initially only a number of pre-selected media partners will be involved.

Outside of its Stories feature, however, Instagram doesn't have a direct means for sharing GIFs on your profile. The nice thing about Giphy, besides its robust library, is that the mobile app lets you quickly post to various social networks and automates the video conversion process for Instagram .

Instagram announced the ability to reply to Instagram stories with either a photo or video. "From selfies to Boomerangs, now you can be even more fun and playful when you respond to friends," Instagram wrote.

For a couple of years, Instagram users have been able to pull GIFs from Giphy to use as animated stickers in Stories. When your friend posts something that you just have to respond to and words or a static image just won't cut it, you might want to reply with a GIF of your own. And guess what? You can do just that following the app's latest update.

You'll have Giphy's massive library of animations at your disposal, so you'll surely find a perfect GIF you can use to reply to a friend's fire selfie. It's not a massive update, given that Instagram brought Giphy integration to direct messages in 2018 too, but having easy access to GIFs in yet another part of the app is more than welcome.
