Oppo is about to launch an Apple Watch of its own, but with a curved display The Apple Watch (above) has no real rival out there. It’s the smartwatch most people want, and the smartwatch other companies can’t beat. Apple’s recent earnings report for the Christmas quarter further drove that point, as the wearables category saw a surge to $10 billion, up 37% from the previous year. Both the Apple Watch and the AirPods are included in that category, and both sold really well during the Black Friday sales events leading to Christmas. Apple didn’t share any sales figures but said that some 75% of Apple Watch customers are new users and that it struggled to meet Apple Watch 3 demand during the period.

You might remember the original Find X from 2018. It was an ambitious phone that sought to avoid the display notch by hosting a selfie camera and a 3D face unlock system in a motorized module that rose up from behind the screen. Oppo hasn’t used the Find branding since, however, instead shifting to the Reno series for various high-end and mid-range phones.

Oppo’s marketing VP Brian Shen has tweeted a hint at what to expect from the Find X2: a 120 Hz “3K” display with curved edges. Does 3K mean the screen has around 3,000 pixels on the long edge? Is it just a way to get around the fact that no-one can agree on whether 2K means 1080p or 1440p? Tune in at 4.30am ET on March 6th to find out.

Oppo's Watch could be the Apple Watch dupe you've been waiting for .
The tech-driven timepiece will be on sale globally later this year. The company unveiled its digital timepiece, the Oppo Watch, during a press conference in China on Friday, following which it drew immediate comparisons to Apple's iconic square-faced wrist accessory. It's not an exact duplicate -- it doesn't feature Apple's digital crown -- but the gently curved screen surrounded by metal and a seamless band attachment does feel remarkably familiar.
