Dell's XPS 15 and 17 leak with sleek new designs
It looks like Dell is about to launch highly revamped versions of the XPS 15, along with an XPS 17 laptop for the first time in years, according to an image on its site spotted by Redditor u/WesolyKubeczek. The new models (top left and right) look a lot more sleek than before with smaller bezels, especially on the bottom “chin.” They could also feature squarer 16:10 aspect ratio displays and no more USB-A ports, exactly like the all-new XPS 13. © u/WesolyKubeczek/Reddit xps 17 leak Currently, the XPS 15 shares a design with the Precision series, also shown in the photo at the bottom and left.
If you missed the chance to pick up Dell's excellent XPS 13 laptop when the company discounted it during its, you now have another opportunity to pick one up. One compelling configuration of the computer is currently on Dell's website. The model in question features a 10th-generation Core i5 processor, a 13-inch 1080p touchscreen display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
While this isn't the lowest price we've seen the XPS 13 sell for, $117 off one of the best laptops you can buy at the moment is nothing to scoff at either. That said, keep in mind that what’s on sale here is the 2019 XPS 13, not the new. The newer version features smaller display bezels and a bigger, more comfortable keyboard.
NHTSA investigates Tesla Model S touchscreen failures
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating older models of the Tesla Model S over complaints that the electric vehicle’s touchscreen -- and as a result, its rearview camera display -- failed. The agency opened an investigation Monday after receiving 11 complaints over 13 months, according to NHTSA documents. In 2012-2015 Model S vehicles, the media control unit (MCU) contains an eMMC NAND flash memory device. Wear-out of the eMMC NAND flash causes the MCU to fail prematurely, according to the NHTSA. MCU failure means several features of the touchscreen stop working, like web browsing, climate control and the rearview camera display.
Since 2015, the XPS 13 has been one of our favorite laptops. Engadget's Devindra Hardawar gave the 2019 model a score of. He particularly liked the fact Dell redesigned the computer to move its web camera above the screen. His one chief complaint with the XPS 13 is that it comes with a microSD slot instead of a full-sized one. That's an issue Dell didn't address with the new 2020 model. The XPS 13's closest competitor is the 13-inch . Together, they're two of the best ultraportables you can buy, but we tend to prefer the more understated design of the XPS 13.
If the XPS 13 doesn't do it for you, give the rest of Dell's; the company has discounted a lot of its laptops and monitors as part of the same sale.
