One of the first new products to have been published at the end of the confinement, "La Vallée", the new thriller of the novelist Bernard Minier, installed itself at the head of the sales of books, welcomed on Tuesday its editor.
"La Vallée, the eighth novel by Bernard Minier (XO Éditions), has experienced an exceptional start since its release on May 20: nearly 20,000 copies sold in just 4 days," the editor said in a press release.
The book occupies the first place in the weekly sales ranking of the GfK institute, said the publishing house.
Bernard Montiel, friend of Laura Smet, denies a stubborn rumor
© COADIC GUIREC / BESTIMAGE Bernard Montiel, friend of Laura Smet, denies a stubborn rumor Even confined, celebrities continue to make revelations. And sometimes it can surprise. A great friend of Laura Smet, Bernard Montiel took stock of his relationships with one of the actress' great rivals. Containment requires, even celebrities must adapt. If their activities are stopped for the moment, they find however the means to occupy themselves.
The 130,000 copies of the book have already been reprinted, the publisher told AFP.
We find in "The Valley" the favorite characters of the writer: Martin Servaz, policeman at the end of the roll and under the threat of revocation, the gendarme Irène Ziegler already crossed in "Glacé" (the first book of Minier published in 2011).
The story takes place in a valley of the Pyrenees literally cut off from the world. Particularly horrific ritual murders are committed there and, like the investigators, the readers, anxious, hold their breath. Miner knows his business. The started book is hard to close. We will not discover the end of the story until the very end of the book and even the most jaded readers will be amazed by its outcome.
"I am happy for my book but also for all our bookseller friends who reopen in a difficult context. This proves that the readers were impatient to return to bookstores", reacted the novelist.
The writer will have a lot to do to keep his first place.
"Life is a novel" (Calmann-Lévy), the 18th title of Guillaume Musso, n ° 1 in sales in France for 10 years, arrived Tuesday in bookstores. Its publisher has planned a circulation of 400,000 copies.
Wednesday, "The Enigma of Room 622" (Ed. De Fallois) by the Swiss Joël Dicker will be available. The circulation of the new novel by the winner of the Goncourt high school students and the grand prize for the novel of the French Academy is 450,000 copies.
The book industry, struck down by the Covid-19 epidemic, is counting on the success of bestsellers for, in the words of Guillaume Musso, "reviving the machine".
