Aranda, who was the highest-paid assistant in college football this season, was being pursued by Texas A&M to serve as the defensive coordinator on Jimbo Fisher’s new staff. He first turned down A&M over the weekend, which caused the Aggies to come after him harder. But The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger says Aranda still chose to remain at LSU even after a second pursuit from the Aggies.

Dellenger expects that Aranda will be making over $2 million a season after the bidding war between A&M and LSU.

Aranda was set to make $1.85 million in 2018 and will probably be seeing a raise. The 41-year-old has coached his teams to top-15 rankings in total defense in six straight seasons. He has been with LSU for two seasons after spending three with Wisconsin.
