LaVar Ball starting league for players to skip college
Controversial NBA dad LaVar Ball told ESPN on Wednesday that he is starting a basketball league for high school graduates who don't want to attend college before launching an NBA career. Ball says his Junior Basketball Association will be fully funded by his Big Baller Brand and seeks 80 players to fill 10 teams he hopes will play at NBA arenas in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta and New York."Getting these players is going to be easy," Ball told ESPN. "This is giving guys a chance to get a jump start on their career, to be seen by pro scouts and we're going to pay them because someone has got to pay these kids.

© David Richard-USA TODAY Sports Dec 14, 2017; Cleveland, OH, USA; Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball (2) reacts in the first quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena. Lonzo Ball was back in practice with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, but his status for actual NBA games remains a mystery. The team announced that the rookie point guard was a full participant in activities at the UCLA Health Training Center, but that he remains questionable for Friday's game at Staples Center against the Charlotte Hornets after spending nearly two weeks sidelined by a sprained left shoulder.
As Lakers reporter Mike Trudell relayed, Ball's status for the team's next game will depend on how his body responds in the morning.
According to the Orange County Register's Bill Oram, there was no rust present on Zo's shot when competing against Lakers assistant Brian Shaw.
Ball had been on a roll from distance before he got hurt. Over his last six games prior to injury, the 20-year-old knocked down 45.0 percent of his threes.
L.A. could certainly use Lonzo's stroke, passing acumen, knack for making plays on defense and. . .well, pretty much everything else he brings to the table. The Purple and Gold have lost all six of his absences, including Wednesday's 133-96 annihilation at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
