The Latest: Arians retires; Lewis' future uncertain The latest on NFL coaching firings (All times EST): 1:30 p.m. Bruce Arians of the Arizona Cardinals has announced his retirement, while Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals says he's still discussing his future with team management. Arians told players of his much-expected decision Monday. The 65-year-old has dealt with health problems in recent years, including treatment for diverticulitis and a successful fight against kidney cancer last offseason. He won a franchise-record 50 games in his five seasons with the Cardinals. Lewis just completed his 15th season with the Bengals, none of which included a playoff victory.

The Cardinals' star pass-catcher said Friday that the retirement of head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer won't have any impact on when he also decides to walk away from football, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

The future Hall of Famer could be motivated to return for at least one more year, with two milestones in reach. Fitzgerald needs just 92 catches and 390 yards to move into second on both the all-time receptions and receiving yards lists - both achievable marks for the upcoming season.

Arizona has yet to hire a new head coach and is likely to be in the quarterback market this offseason, whether via free agency or the draft.
