The Vegas Golden Knights made their first franchise postseason appearance Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings and kicked off the game in incredible fashion.

Their pregame ceremony was everything that makes Vegas so fun, and featured a dramatic voice over worthy of Lord of the Rings, along with a trial by combat, some futuristic drumming and much more.

Lest anyone doubt it, this is Vegas, and all things will be done with the appropriate amount of camp and fun. Hockey tends to take itself pretty seriously, so it's nice to see a team actually go out there and have fun.

Marc-Andre Fleury never believed the expansion Vegas Golden Knights were a team built just for the future, and that losing would be acceptable because it was the inaugural season. On Sept. 13, the three-time Stanley Cup goaltender said: ''It's not something I accept. Every guy here wants to win. We know where we're at, we won't accept losing. We're looking at winning some games.'' With help from Fleury, the Golden Knights did a lot more than win some games. They're one of the most successful expansion teams ever. In any sport.
