Kraft : Gronkowski 's status 'not even an issue for me'. Patriots owner Robert Kraft told Jeff Howe of the Athletic (subscription required) that any uncertainty about Gronk's status with the team is "not even an issue for me.

Robert Kraft spoke confidently about the status of Rob Gronkowski for the 2018 Patriots season. He doesn' t see an issue there. Robert Kraft said in a new interview that there are no issues on either side as it pertains to Tom Brady's contract.

“I was impressed that he was coming in late and doing whatever he had to do to make himself feel right and get his body right,” Kraft said.

Gronkowski reportedly contemplated retirement throughout the entirety of last season, but his thoughts first became public knowledge during his press conference following New England’s Super Bowl LII loss.

According to ESPN, Gronkowski’s postgame comments were neither “an emotional approach to the loss of the Super Bowl, nor an emotional response to the concussion” he suffered in the AFC Championship. But Kraft noted he believes players can “feel differently” after a loss.

“That was a tough loss,” he said. “We’ll let things sort out and see what happens.”

Kraft acknowledged things can change, but expressed optimism for the team’s future. Not only do the Patriots have quarterback Tom Brady returning for his 19th NFL season, they also will welcome back offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who almost left New England for the head coaching position with the Indianapolis Colts.

Drafting a quarterback “obviously” a high priority for Patriots, thinks Robert Kraft

Drafting a quarterback “obviously” a high priority for Patriots, thinks Robert Kraft The team is looking to find its next Jimmy Garoppolo. No quarterback in the NFL is older than the New England Patriots' Tom Brady. While he has not yet shown any signs of slowing down and is coming off an MVP season and historic Super Bowl performance, the future Hall of Famer will be 41 years old once the 2018 regular season gets kicked off. Brady is therefore entering near-unchartered territory when it comes to quarterbacking in the NFL.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski looks around U.S. Bank Stadium before a team photo before Super Bowl LII. But for all the attention paid to Gronkowski ’s purportedly uncertain future, Kraft has said it’s a non- issue for him.

When it comes to the future of star tight end Rob Gronkowski in New England, Robert Kraft is at peace. The team owner doesn' t seem worried about Gronk's status for 2018. "It's not even an issue for me," Kraft told Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

Kraft noted both he and coach Bill Belichick are “very happy” about McDaniels’s return, but did not offer any insights regarding the status of Belichick and Gronkowski’s reported “disjointed” relationship. As for Kraft and Gronkowski’s relationship? The 76-year-old says it’s “fun” and “good.”

“I think he is the best tight end in the game, maybe in the history of the game,” Kraft added. “We’re privileged to have a quarterback and tight end in those positions.”

Things are often fluid within the Patriots organization — given how quickly they can can change — but Kraft said he does his best to maintain stability.

“It’s always something,” he told The Athletic. “My job is to try to keep things cool, have continuity, and attract the best people. And we’ve done OK over the last 24 years from where we were the [previous] 35. I can’t predict everything that is going to happen. There are acts of God. Anyone could be in a car accident, so we have to develop contingency plans for everything — coaching, players. But I’m optimistic about the future.”

Rob Gronkowski reportedly in no rush to return to Patriots, enjoying offseason .
Over the weekend, Rob Gronkowski seemingly gave his strongest hint of the offseason that he is planning to play football in 2018. That does not mean he is in any rush to resume working out with the New England Patriots, however. Gronkowski was at Gillette Stadium on Saturday to announce a partnership with Monster Energy Supercross. He managed to dodge most questions from reporters about his playing future, but he may have tipped his hand when asked specifically if he has any message for fans who want answers.“They’re going to see a freak-a-leek when I come back,” Gronk joked. “That’s what.
