I guess rivalries never die.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said at last week's SEC spring meetings that he doesn't believe coaches using negative recruiting to attract players is a smart move. Today, college football Hall of Famer Steve Spurrier said that Georgia would have beaten him and his team more if talking mattered.

Whoa, Steve out of nowhere.

Spurrier hasn't coached since 2015, but is the winningest coach for both Florida and South Carolina. With both teams in the SEC, Spurrier is no stranger to the Georgia Bulldogs.

However, it's odd Spurrier would go after Smart since the Georgia head coach didn't get hired until Spurrier was out at South Carolina.

It's also unclear the point that he is trying to make.

Does Spurrier not believe Smart has ever used negative recruiting as a tactic? Or is he trying to say that former Bulldogs head coaches were just bad at it and that's why they didn't get the players they wanted?

Maybe, if talking mattered, Spurrier would still have a job in college football and not for an expansion football league.
