Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson was expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the ACC this season. Now his status with the program is in doubt.

Jackson's dad, Fred, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch his son is still a member of the team, but his future was up in the air.

"As of right now, Josh is still a member of the Virginia Tech football team," Fred Jackson said. "We'll know more in two days. It's too early to talk about this."

He did not specify the reason for the unsettled situation.

A report Thursday said the school was investigating an academic issue involving the sophomore.
