The Lakers are in a catch-22 trying to form the NBA's next super-team with LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard Following reports that LeBron James is hesitant to be the first star to go to the Lakers and that Paul George might stay in Oklahoma City, the Lakers may have to trade for Kawhi Leonard to get the ball rolling. The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly discussing a trade for Kawhi Leonard with the San Antonio Spurs, with the hopes that landing Leonard will get them LeBron James in free agency.

Sign Up . The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly only willing to include the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick, which they acquired from the Boston Celtics as part of the Kyrie Irving deal, in trade talks if the package coming back can help the organization for the long haul.

On NBA Draft night, Luka Dončić unsurprisingly made some waves. The Atlanta Hawks took him with the No. 3 overall pick only to trade him to the Dallas Mavericks (and Trae Young) at No. 5. According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, the Cavaliers could’ve had Dončić for themselves.

“A source said the Cavs were offered on draft night the chance to trade up to No. 3 with the Hawks in a deal that would’ve sent Kent Bazemore to Cleveland.”

As it turns out, the Cavaliers were just very high on Collin Sexton. That’s whom they took eighth overall. If this report is true and they didn’t want Dončić, it’s almost unbelievable, but again, they were said to be very high on their eventual pick. Sexton is off to a great start in the summer league.

We can say, however, that Dončić is arguably the best player in this draft class. For some reason, the Phoenix Suns took a traditional center that has no role in today’s game. For some reason, the Sacramento Kings continue to be very stupid. But the Cavaliers passing on Dončić and losing LeBron James in the same summer? This has the potential to blow up in their faces in a major way.

As they look to rebuild in the wake of LeBron leaving again, that’s the last thing they need.

Report: Harris turns down $80 million extension from Clippers .
Tobias Harris has reportedly turned down a contract extension from the Los Angeles Clippers so he can be a free agent next summer. Earlier this year, Harris was sent to the Clippers from the Detroit Pistons in the trade that saw Blake Griffin go to Detroit. In 32 games for the Clippers, Harris averaged 19.3 points, 6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while connecting on 41 percent of his three-pointers.
