Raiders' inaction becoming embarrassing as Khalil Mack holdout continues If the Khalil Mack situation gets ugly enough for Oakland to trade him, the Raiders will be losers no matter what they get in return. The beginning of the new Jon Gruden era was not supposed to be this dysfunctional. The Raiders don't seem concerned about not yet singing the "Return of Khalil Mack" in training camp. Unfortunately, Oakland does not realize the situation with the All-Pro pass-rusher is a bad look that takes away many of the good vibes tied to the return of coach Jon Gruden.

Carr will never know the offense better than Gruden , of course, but he ’ s worked hard to “ master it.” The fifth-year veteran has appeared quite comfortable I wish Carr the best of luck – Gruden is not easy to play for – I do believe Carr is the best QB the Raiders have had in a decade (not hard to say).

"I think he's one of the best, in terms of processing information," Gruden said of Carr, per NBC Sports Bay Area.

"I think he craves new things. He wants more… 'What do we have today? What are we doing today? What's new? What do we got?' He has a photographic memory. It comes so easy to him. He's got the offense mastered more than I do."

Jon Gruden calls out Martavis Bryant over poor training camp

Jon Gruden calls out Martavis Bryant over poor training camp Martavis Bryant has been given the fresh start he wanted this season, but it does not sound like he is making the most of it thus far. The Oakland Raiders sent a third-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Bryant back in April, and the wide receiver has not impressed his new head coach. On Saturday, Jon Gruden told reporters he needs to see more from Bryant. “He’s got to get out here and play better,” Gruden said, per Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He’s in a competitive situation. Right now, a lot of the other receivers have had a nice camp. He’s just got to learn the offense. He’s got to stay out here. He’s had some illnesses. He’s got to get on the field.

The Raiders had a funny, embarrassing moment involving Jon Gruden today, if you can believe it! The Oakland Raiders are playing another one of the NFL’ s worst teams, the Arizona Cardinals. And after a three-and-out where Derek Carr couldn’t connect with Jalen Richard on third down, Carr and

Carr echoed similar thoughts as he acknowledged the hard work he has put in this offseason to learn the new schemes and terminology under Gruden.

“There’s a lot of hard work for sure, a lot of hours spent trying to master it,” Carr said. “You think like he thinks, which has been fun and interesting for me to learn.

"In order to do that, the time you have to put in is a lot. It’s a lot. And both of us worked really hard on getting on the same page. I think we’re always going to continue to grow together and think about things differently and then figure it out. The main thing is when we hit the field, that’s us, that’s what he and I are putting on the field, the product at the same time. We didn’t want it to look like we’ve only been together for a short period of time. We wanted it to look like these guys have been around each other, it seems, like forever.”

The Raiders will return to the field Saturday to face the Rams in Los Angeles as preseason continues.

Jon Gruden frustrated at having to play Rams twice in the next month .
The schedule-making elves at NFL Headquarters have put an interesting wrinkle in the Raiders’ slate this season. Oakland plays the Rams this Saturday for Preseason Week 2, and then has to play them again in short order in a regular season Week 1 Monday Night Football game. This development has Raiders coach Jon Gruden scratching his head.“I don’t understand it honestly, I don’t,” said Gruden when asked by reporters if he’d ever done anything like this before. When asked about his reaction to this quirk of the schedule, Gruden said, “Like I said, I’ve never seen that.
