​This highly-touted QB transfer could be on his way to UCF.

Brandon Wimbush had been the starter for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before being replaced by Ian Book. Following the regular season, Wimbush declared his intention to transfer in order to find a new starting job around college football. Penn State was originally the heavy favorite to land Wimbush, but it appears that UCF is quietly emerging as the front-runner.

UCF would be a great fit for Wimbush after ​McKenzie Milton went down with a brutal leg injury to end the 2018 season.

The dual-threat quarterback passed for 719 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He added another 256 yards and one touchdown on the ground for the Fighting Irish. His ability to find space on the ground is a huge selling point to his game, logging 1,156 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns over his career.

Wimbush will reportedly make his decision in the next eight-to-ten days. With UCF in need of a quarterback, they'll push hard for Wimbush.

After 15 starts at Notre Dame, Brandon Wimbush will play his final season at UCF. Central Florida has a new quarterback. Brandon Wimbush, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame, announced Tuesday that he will play his final season of college football at UCF. Wimbush was Notre Dame’s starting quarterback for all of 2017 and to begin the 2018 season, but was benched in favor of Ian Book. With Book entrenched in South Bend for two more seasons, Wimbush opted to leave the program. Now he is headed to a program that has won 25 of its last 26 games.
