Pistons' Blake Griffin uses tablet to argue call with referee The Pistons forward was unhappy with a call so he grabbed a tablet to argue with referee J.T. Orr during the Pistons' 125-88 loss Friday.

Blake Austin Griffin (born March 16, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Pistons got their superstar but at what cost? The 2018 NBA trade deadline isn’t even a week away yet, and basketball has been shattered, swept up, and put back into place after the Clippers traded The Pistons ’ roster problems are probably the last thing Griffin wants to hear, see, feel, or

LOS ANGELES — Bruce Brown and Zaza Pachulia engaged in spirited debate on the Detroit Pistons bench Saturday afternoon.

It was apparent early Blake Griffin intended harm against the franchise that traded him almost a year ago.

The question was how much harm.

“I thought he was going to get 50,” Brown said after the Pistons’ 109-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers — Griffin’s first time facing his former franchise on the Staples Center floor.

Team meetings won't fix the Pistons troubles

Team meetings won't fix the Pistons troubles After yesterday’s embarrassing 37-point blowout in Indiana, Rod Beard reported that there was a team meeting to get on the same page. Here’s why that’s not going to fix this team.

Griffin controlled the game, adding eight rebounds and five assists in finishing with a plus-minus of plus-11.

But the Pistons organization was pleased with the performance for another reason.

After a 13-7 start, the Pistons have won only five times.

At 18-23, the Pistons are currently one game out of a playoff spot.

But despite the adversity, the team came together for one day to get a win for their leader.

“I thought it meant a lot to him, but the important thing is team was excited,” Pistons coach Dwane Casey said. “That’s a sign of togetherness — wanting to pull for your teammate, the success of your teammate. I thought that was really important.”

Many contributions

The Pistons jumped on the Clippers from the outset.

Griffin led the way, scoring 11 points in staking the Pistons to a 37-24 lead after one quarter.

Jackson was also part of the early scoring onslaught, scoring eight points and knocking down two 3-pointers in the first quarter.

Griffin continued his excellence, pounding Danilo Gallinari or Tobias Harris in the post.

A 3-pointer early in the second half increased the lead to 14, and later, he backed down Harris from the 3-point line to the rim for an easy post chance, giving the Pistons a 12-point lead.

But with the bench struggling for weeks, Casey gave his starters heavy minutes and the group started to tire.

Kuzma's career-high 41 leads Lakers over Pistons 113-100 Kyle Kuzma scored a career-high 41 points and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Detroit Pistons 113-100 to improve to 3-5 without injured LeBron James. Kuzma had 22 points in the third quarter, hitting four 3-pointers to get the crowd on its feet and scoring on consecutive goaltending calls. He joined Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, James Harden and James with 40-plus points in three quarters this season. "Pretty cool," Kuzma said. "That's the team I grew up watching. My fondest memories is them beating the Lakers." Kuzma was a 9-year-old in Flint, Michigan, when the Pistons won the 2004 NBA Finals.

Griffin scored inside to push the lead to eight with 2:47 remaining, but the Clippers scored five straight to narrow the deficit to three.

After a Clippers stop, they had a chance to tie, but Brown, defending Williams, came up with a steal.

He was fouled, and his two free throws accounted for the final score.

“We were looking to run them off the (3-point line),” Brown said. “I seen him jump in the air and tried to pass, so I just tried to jump the passing lane and I got it.”

Game highlights

Brown was asked about the similarities with Saturday’s game and the Pistons win at Toronto earlier this season, which gave Casey a little revenge against the franchise that fired him last offseason.

Pistons' Blake Griffin Ignores Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer In Return to Los Angeles

The Clippers Are All-In On Blake Griffin . Quickly. Blake Griffin ’s high–wire act made him famous Griffin was familiar enough with the Clippers oddball owner to know he should turn him down, but But when we felt resistance in games, we splintered. I just want to make sure , even when we have

The Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit Pistons agreed to a massive trade. Let’s try to figure it out. Upon further reflection, I still don’t get it but at least I have somewhat more coherent thoughts. Griffin hasn’t made it through a full season in four years, and he hasn’t been an All-Star for the last three.

“We wanted to get them a win,” Brown said. “We didn’t think the organizations did them right so get this win for them and B.G. played extremely well.”

Drummond was solid all game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 21 rebounds — his seventh 20-20 game of the season. He added three steals.

“This is a good team win for him (Griffin),” Drummond said. “This was the same gravity as the Toronto game. We played real hard both games.”

It’s complicated

Griffin maintains he has no issue with the trade itself — he understands the business aspect of the game.

But he still takes it personally about how it was handled.

He first heard rumblings from someone not with the Clippers organization.

He has told several publications he hasn’t spoken with Clippers coach Doc Rivers since the trade.

And he didn’t break his pregame routine for pleasantries with his former employers.

He didn’t make time to speak with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, who was waiting for Griffin to conclude his warmup routine.

Griffin appeared to slow down, but sprinted off the floor.

Griffin has 44 points in return against Clippers

Griffin has 44 points in return against Clippers Blake Griffin scored 44 points in his return to Staples Center for the first time against his old team and the Detroit Pistons beat the Los Angeles Clippers 109-104 on Saturday to snap a four-game skid. BOX SCORE: PISTONS 109, CLIPPERS 104 Griffin was greeted with cheers during pregame introductions and received a standing ovation after a first-quarter video tribute from the team that drafted him first overall in 2009. He stuck his right arm in the air and then brought his raised hands together in a thankful gesture without smiling.

The Los Angeles Clippers shook up the N.B.A. on Monday night, just over a week before the league’s annual trade deadline, by swinging a blockbuster deal to send the face of their franchise, Blake Griffin , to the Detroit Pistons .

Blake Griffin admits he was shocked by the trade that sent him from the Clippers to Detroit. But he ’s now with a team that wants him — and so the feeling is Griffin , Brice Johnson and Willie Reed were introduced in Auburn Hills by the Pistons , who acquired the trio earlier this week in a blockbuster deal

Shortly after the scene, Griffin sprinted through a Staples Center hallway and into the visitor’s locker room — part of his normal routine.

“As soon as I’m done with my pregame shooting, I make sure there’s a path and I take off running to the locker room. I don’t stop running,” Griffin said afterward. “A lot of you know that. A lot of you that have been for a long time have seen me do that before. I don’t change that for anybody.”

He then turned to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, who reported the scene on Twitter.

“To Tweet out something like that like what you did, I thought that was kind of (expletive),” Griffin said. “It wasn’t anything planned. Every single game I’ve done this for how long.”

Whatever he feels for his former organization, Griffin showed his appreciation after a video montage of his Clippers moments played during the first quarter.

Griffin was drafted in 2009 when the Clippers were considered a league laughing stock.

The five-time All-Star was part of bringing respectability to the franchise. Griffin deflected the credit, citing his many teammates with the Clippers.

“Each year you build that foundation,” Griffin said. “I don’t look at it as what I did. I was a part of it, but the coolest thing is to be part of something bigger and that’s what this was.”

Blake Griffin shoots down notion he shunned Clippers owner

Blake Griffin shoots down notion he shunned Clippers owner Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin made a return trip to Los Angeles Saturday afternoon. It’s his first game back in Southern California since being dealt from the Clippers to Detroit last season. Prior to the game, a video emerged that depicted Griffin blowing off Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. In fact, said video seemed to show him both ignoring Ballmer and running away from the owner as fast as possible. In an attempt to clarify the incident after the fact, Griffin also put reporters on blast for suggesting he shunned his former owner.

The L.A. Clippers traded Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, and Griffin did not have a no-trade clause, though he was eligible to negotiate one with the Clippers . Steve Hinson from Detroit Bad Boys thinks the Pistons need to keep making moves to make this

Blake Griffin said his January trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Detroit Pistons has "I've been so focused on making this transition and [adjusting] to this change that I haven't put that I never want to be in a place where I'm not wanted . Coming here made me realize what a franchise looks like."

But his main focus is keeping his team in the postseason picture.

The Pistons will try to earn a split on the four-game trip at the Utah Jazz on Monday.

“We just played hard, our guys played hard,” Griffin said. “(Reggie Jackson), (Andre Drummond) 21 rebounds, (Reggie) Bullock, Bruce had big minutes.

“When we play like that, we’re so much better. At this point in the season, this last month a little bit banged up, we needed it all.”
