So far, at least three members of the winning team will not be making the trip. Devin McCourty, a defensive back for the Patriots, who beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta on Sunday, told reporters on Monday that he would not be headed to Washington D.C. if the team visits Trump following their victory.

Jackie Bradley Jr. is among the Red Sox players who will not be attending Boston’s visit to the White House — and his decision clearly drew the ire of some folks.

As is customary for any team that wins a championship, an invite is extended for a visit with the president in Washington D.C.

While a handful or Red Sox players said they would attend the visit with Donald Trump, others have said they would pass.

Bradley — who went to the White House in 2013 with the Red Sox and 2010 with the University of South Carolina baseball team — told The Boston Globe on Wednesday, “I don’t get into politics. But I won’t be going.” That apparently led to him getting some negative feedback, likely on social media, which prompted the star outfielder to release this statement on Twitter.

Mookie Betts Says He Will Not Attend Red Sox White House Visit.
The Boston Red Sox have postponed their visit to the nation's capital in order to attend the White House due to the government shutdown, which was halted on Friday after the longest furlough in U.S. history. The most recent champions, the Clemson Tigers, made the trip out to D.C. earlier this month and were given a feast of fast-food due to the shutdown, which prevents government employees, including chefs, from earning their paycheck. Amid the shutdown, general manager Alex Cora opted to postpone the team's visit, and now it seems that some players are less interested in attending the event at all.
