SportMLB takes huge hit as Murray commits to NFL
Kyler Murray undecided about doing drills at combine
Kyler Murray has fully committed to the NFL, but he still remains a bit wishy-washy about his approach to the upcoming 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. Murray still isn’t sure if he’s going to participate in the field drills with his peers in Indianapolis.

As MLB’s free agency cold stove continues to be a huge black eye for the league, Kyler Murray dealt it yet another big blow.
On Monday morning, the two-sport star made his intentions crystal clear with a statement on Twitter in which he said he is “firmly and fully committing my life to becoming an NFL quarterback.”

As it had been reported in the past, Murray emphasized that “football has been my love and passion my entire life.
Kyler Murray will return $1.29 million of the $1.5 million signing bonus money the Oakland A’s gave him last year. He forfeits the remaining $3.16 million due March 1. The A’s will put him on the restricted list and retain Murray’s rights, but they don’t get a comp draft pick.

The Oakland Athletics gambled early on Murray to become a MLB star. Now it appears that draft pick was a waste. And despite Billy Beane’s claim that he wouldn’t “take the pick back for a second, one wonders if others around MLB will be wary about making a similar move in the future for ball players who excel in football.
Clearly, this decision is a huge disappointment to MLB on the whole.
The A’s did everything they could to convince Murray to play baseball before he declared for the NFL Draft. MLB itself was reportedly even willing to bend some rules to help Oakland convince Murray to commit to baseball.
Obviously that didn’t happen. The allure of football, and the projection that Murray will be a first-round pick, were far too strong an aphrodisiac for the young man to ignore.
Alabama already has 10 commits for 2020 class
With the 2019 college football National Signing Day now in the past, universities are already starting to get to work on their 2020 recruiting classes.
The NFL has long been America’s top sport. Kyler Murray’s decision just magnifies that even more.

Report: Several NFL execs believe Kyler Murray will be first-round pick.
There are plenty of question marks surrounding Kyler Murray as an NFL quarterback, but the way scouts view him is not nearly as important as the way team executives feel about the former Oklahoma star. For that reason, Murray still has a great shot at being taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Jason Cole of FanSided spoke with six NFL executives who believe there’s a good chance Murray will be a first-round pick. However, he will obviously have to commit to playing football before any team invests that much in him. I talked to 6 NFL execs who think Kyler Murray is a possible first round pick.
