Marc Gasol surprised by all the Raptors fans in NYC

Marc Gasol surprised by all the Raptors fans in NYC Marc Gasol made his Toronto Raptors debut on Saturday night after spending his entire career with the Memphis Grizzlies. One thing that stood out to him immediately was the fan support he had on the road. Gasol’s Raptors beat the New York Knicks 104-99 at Madison Square Garden. He was asked after the game about what surprised him and said the fan support they had in an opponent’s building. “How many fans for the Raptors were in the stands,” Gasol said. “Memphis fans — we get some fans in the stands — but not as many as you guys, or ‘us’ now. The amount of energy that you feel around the city is great.

Ujiri believed that Lowry had the potential to be a star, but found that his reputation around the NBA had more to do with his history of clashing with coaches and his body language than his talent. Ujiri challenged Lowry during meetings that off-season to be a better player and leader.

Gasol has been a regular member of the Spanish national basketball team since 2006. He has won two Olympic silver medals and a FIBA Basketball World Cup title. In the EuroBasket, he was won two titles, a silver medal and two bronze medals.

Lowry has big half amid trade rumors, Raptors hold off 76ers Kyle Lowry had a big first half amid reports that Toronto has offered him in a trade, Kawhi Leonard finished with 24 points, and the Raptors held off the Philadelphia 76ers 119-107 on Tuesday night in a matchup between two of the Eastern Conference's top teams. Lowry and Serge Ibaka each had 20 points to overcome the Joel Embiid-led Sixers. Embiid had 37 points and 13 rebounds for his league-leading 44th double-double, Ben Simmons scored 20 points and Jimmy Butler had 18.

Kyle Lowry has no desire to play for anyone but the Toronto Raptors. But if the All-Star guard is sent elsewhere between now and the NBA’ s Thursday trade deadline, Lowry said he’ll have no hard feelings “I don’t think there’ s one thing I can say or do [to change that], you know what I mean?

Sometimes being the new guy can be tough. Gasol, who spent his first 10 1/2 seasons of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies before being traded to Toronto last week, learned that lesson before the Raptors played the Nets.

Lowry loves to have fun during player introductions at home games and all of his teammates get in on it and know their roles.

But apparently nobody told the new guy:

That was pretty great.

Here's an example of what Lowry likes to do before games:

Hopefully someone helps Gasol out before the next home game.
