The abundance of talented pending unrestricted free agents and other notable names who could be available ahead of the NHL trade deadline presents some tantalizing potential deals.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- The Philadelphia Flyers set an NHL record when Cam Talbot became the eighth goaltender to play this season.
Talbot, who was acquired from Edmonton in mid-February for fellow goaltender Anthony Stolarz, became No. 8 on Friday night in a start against the New Jersey Devils.
Brian Elliott, Carter Hart, Michal Neuvirth, Calvin Pickard, Alex Lyon, Mike McKenna and Stolarz have also played goal for Philadelphia in a season during which the men between the pipes have missed 107 games due to injury.
Surging Flyers beat Red Wings 3-1 for 12th win in 14 games
The surging Philadelphia Flyers posted a 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night. The Flyers have won 12 of their last 14 games, moving into contention for a wild card in the Eastern Conference playoffs or perhaps for one of the three guaranteed postseason spots available in the Metropolitan Division. BOX SCORE: FLYERS 3, RED WINGS 1 Lindblom scored early in the game and had an empty-net goal with 1:26 left. Rookie Carter Hart finished with 37 saves. Darren Helm tied the game early in the second period and on a night the Red Wings failed to score despite a lot of shots.
Three other teams had shared the record with the Flyers: the 1989-90 Quebec Nordiques, 2002-03 St. Louis Blues and 2007-08 Los Angeles Kings.
Flyers interim head coach Scott Gordon was one of the Nordiques' seven goaltenders.

Carter Hart made a career-high 41 saves in a 2-1 victory, leading the Flyers to their eighth straight win and 2000th regular-season victory.
