49ers have not spoken to Steelers about trade for Brown

49ers have not spoken to Steelers about trade for Brown Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said last week that three teams have inquired about trading for receiver Antonio Brown. The San Francisco 49ers are not one of them. Niners general manager John Lynch said Wednesday at the NFL combine he has yet to have any discussions with the Steelers. "We have not," Lynch said. "It's funny, the world we live in where one tweet from a player to another turns into interest but it is the world we live in. I can tell you that, like every team in this league, we think the guy's a heck of a football player, but we have not had talks with the Steelers. I can tell you that.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their first addition at receiver since trading away Antonio Brown, adding Donte Moncrief , inked to a two year deal . The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers , who don’t usually sign many free agents, have signed their second player in three days, wide receiver Donte Moncrief . The terms aren’t yet known but the length of the deal is for two years . This is per NFL reporter Adam Schefter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers needed to find some depth at receiver behind JuJu Smith-Schuster after dealing away All-Pro Antonio Brown.

They did just that Wednesday evening — signing former Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Donte Moncrief to a two-year contract.

Moncrief, 25, played just one season in Jacksonville after signing a huge short-term contract. The Mississippi product ultimately tallied 48 receptions for 668 yards and three touchdowns.

This came after a four-year run in Indianapolis in which the former third-round pick never gained as much as 800 receiving yards in a single season.

While Moncrief can’t be compared to Brown in any way, he does provide Ben Roethlisberger and Co. a big-bodied receiver. The 6-foot-2 pass catcher has tallied 21 touchdowns in five NFL seasons.
