A drone illegally flew over Fenway Park days before the Boston Marathon is scheduled. The police are investigating. The drone was recovered, and the operator was identified as a juvenile , Boston police said in a statement. The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
A drone manufacturer, DJI, said the drone appeared to be one of their products, which they are able to remotely track in certain locations. A spokesman for the company, Adam Lisberg, said in a statement that the company was not involved in the incident but would assist police.
“Anybody should know that you should not flying a drone over a stadium during a baseball game,” said Lisberg told the Globe Thursday. “It’s clearly illegal and stupid.”
Whoever was operating the drone “deliberately violated the FAA temporary flight restriction in place over the game,” he said in the statement.
