Kerr says Warriors' best lineup doesn't include Cousins The Golden State Warriors didn't have to work up too much of a sweat to dispatch the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1.

Once cleared to play, DeMarcus Cousins will provide the most intriguing 10 minutes of Warriors basketball in the It’ s “ pretty exciting” because Cousins is in the final stages of rehabilitation. The Golden State Warriors blew a 31-point lead at home in the playoffs, and that wasn't even the worst news of the night for the team.

Starting center DeMarcus Cousins went down with a quad injury early in the first quarter that immediately sent him to the training room. He did not return to the game.

Following the loss, Steve Kerr was asked if he had heard anything from the team's training staff, and told reporters that Cousins had a "pretty significant quad injury."

"There's a pretty significant quad injury. We'll get an MRI tomorrow. He's going to be out for uh - I don't know- I'll just say a while because I think it's unclear at this point on how long he'll be out. But yeah, it's significant."

While this is a huge blow to the Warriors, it's an even bigger blow to Cousins, who was playing in the first postseason of his career and was just starting to look like his old self since tearing his Achilles in the middle of last season.

Cousins was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer with an opportunity to get a max or close to a max contract if his health held up for the entire season. The timing of the quad injury couldn't have been worse because it takes away from his ability to contribute to a potential championship run, and the game happened in front of a national audience.

Cousins went down with a non-contact injury early in the first quarter while chasing a loose ball. He limped off the court and into the locker room and did not return to the game. Cousins will undergo an MRI on his quad, but for now, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski says there is fear Cousins tore his quad. There's significant concern that DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a torn left quad, but there won't be complete certainty until his MRI on Tuesday, league sources tell ESPN. The hope is that it's just a strain.

DeMarcus Cousins looks very active and engaged defensively. Switching and talking and playing "He' s still learning the plays. It' s not as simple as you draw it up and here you go," Kerr explained. They have no effective rim protection, so there will be opportunities for DeMarcus Cousins to punish
