It's now officially April 16 and the deadline set by quarterback Russell Wilson for the Seattle Seahawks to extend him a new contract has come and gone.

No word has emerged from either side as to whether or not a deal has been reached.

Wilson has one year left on his current contract with Seattle before he becomes an unrestricted free agent or the Seahawks opt to use a franchise tag to keep him in the Emerald City for at least another season. Seattle could also trade Wilson at some point, but we'll save that option for another post.

Numerous reports indicated Wilson wanted an extension by the stroke of midnight or all further negotiations would end this season. Peter King of NBC Sports suggested Wilson would be taking a harder line, ceasing all negotiations going forward should the deadline pass.

Wilson doesn't intend to hold out and will be with the team "every day for every workout, meeting, and practice," a source told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. The deadline, which Florio adds was given to the Seahawks in January, is to ensure there are no distractions for the upcoming season. If a deal cannot be reached, Wilson will shut down talks until after the campaign.

The Seahawks added Ficken on a futures deal after last season but later gave Jason Myers a four-year Brady Henderson ESPN. Details of the Seahawks ' one-year deals with pass -rushers Cassius Marsh and Russell Wilson has told the Seahawks he wants a new deal done by April 15, when
