Curry leads Warriors to No. 1 seed in Western Conference Soaking in the franchise's nostalgia of yesteryear, Stephen Curry scored 27 points and helped the Golden State Warriors clinch the Western Conference's top seed with a win in their final regular-season game at Oracle Arena, beating the Clippers 131-104 for a fifth straight victory. Kevin Durant added 16 points and seven assists as Warriors players opted to honor the past in throwback white "We Believe" jerseys worn during the 2007 playoff run that snapped a 12-year postseason drought. A banner commemorating 47 years at Oracle was unveiled afterward and it will move across the bay to hang inside new Chase Center in San Francisco where the Warriors will play next season.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been there and done that - 82-game NBA regular seasons followed by deep playoff runs that thrice resulted in championship wins. Knowing the drill, Green knows just what to do to get his body in peak conditioning for optimal performance.

As reported by Marcus Thompson II for The Athletic, Warriors general manager Bob Myers confronted Green about about his weight and conditioning after the All-Star break. But Green already had a plan in place; he had learned from Michigan State coach Tom Izzo that keen self-evaluation skills are necessary for greatness.

10 players who must step up in the NBA playoffs

10 players who must step up in the NBA playoffs The NBA playoffs are set to begin, and the league’s brightest stars will soon be showcasing their talents on the world’s biggest stage. It will be interesting to see which player steps up under pressure and leads his team to the NBA Finals. Regular-season play is fun to watch, but it’s the pressure-filled moments of the postseason that really count. As such, here are 10 players that must step up in the NBA playoffs. D’Angelo Russell, Nets After his career year with the Nets this season, the Lakers are probably wishing they hadn’t traded Russell to Brooklyn. Something clicked for the former second overall pick as he finished with career-highs in points (20.1) and assists (7.0).

SoulCycle has been great to Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green . After the All-Star break, Green needed to get lean and mean for the playoffs . His combination of following a nutritionist’s guidance and getting more cardio into his day via SoulCycle helped him to drop 23 pounds in time

Earlier this year, Bob Myers told Draymond Green he needed to get in shape, but Green already had a plan in place for the playoffs . Green is re-telling this exchange in the locker room after the Warriors’ Game 3 win over the LA Clippers on Thursday. He pauses a few beats, adding to the drama of the

To let Myers know he was serious about getting in shape for the playoffs, Green even had a date to give his boss: March 6.

"I knew I wasn't in good shape," Green told The Athletic this week. "But I also know if anybody knows how to get in shape and get in shape quick, I know how. I've been doing it all my life."

After dealing with a nagging toe injury for a good portion of the season, Green first needed to rest and get healed up. A trip to Puerto Vallarta during All-Star Weekend allowed him to do just that. Upon return, Green got into intense workouts and cleaned up his plate.

According to Warriors center Andrew Bogut, who is sporting a leaner physique himself, the dietary changes were needed. "He used to eat like (expletive)," the Australian big man said.

Even NBA stars need a little push to get in shape, sometimes. Prior to the final stretch of the season, Warriors general manager Bob Myers got real with Draymond Green : he told him it was time to get in shape if the team wanted to win another title, according to Marcus Thompson of the The Athletic.

And the changes have worked. To start the playoffs, Green has looked lighter on his feet - an asset for a team seeking to push a speedy offensive pace, and the natural result of dropping 23 pounds in six weeks.

Here's how Green did it:

  • A nutritionist planned his diet.
  • A chef prepared his meals in keeping with the nutritionist's plan.
  • The team's strength and conditioning coaches helped him drop the weight without losing strength, in workouts The Athletic's Thompson referred to as "taxing."

It was on Green, though, to stay away from the following dietary culprits: alcohol, fried foods, unhealthy snacks. But once the postseason is over, Green can indulge once again in some of his favorite foods, like his mother's famous "Saginaw Tacos."

To Green, they'll probably taste even better if eaten with championship confetti in his hair.
